Also known as Amarillo Snapper, Common Snapper, Gulf Snapper, Pargo Amarillo, Yellowtail Snapper.

Found singly or in small schools, close to the shelter of caves, over hard bottoms, of inshore reefs.
They feed on crustaceans and fish.
Length - 70cm
Depth - 3-60m
Widespread Eastern Pacific

Most Snappers live in moderate depths, however there are a few that live much deeper. Juveniles found on inshore reefs.
They are nocturnal predators that mainly feed on fish, but will eat crustaceans, gastropods and cephalopods.
