Description

Found singly, over outer reef slopes, and under sargassum weed rafts during the wet season.
They feed on benthic invertebrates.
Juveniles float with loose surface weeds.
Length - 25cm
Depth - 2-20m
Widespread Indo-Pacific

Filefish can alter their colour and pattern to match their surrounds and so deter predators.
