Description

Also known as Leafy Murex, Murex Shell, Shortfrond Murex.

Found on mud flats, in mangroves, and on oyster banks, of protected bays and lagoons. Beautiful shape, and colour of the shell a pinky/mauve.
They feed on other molluscs, especially clams, and oysters.
Length - 15cm
Depth - 0-80m
Widespread Western Atlantic, Caribbean, Northwest Pacific

Murex shells are highly prized collectors items with their winged and pungent spines.
