Also known as Mediterranean Spotted Weeverfish, Spotted Weaverfish, Starry Weever.

Found resting, or buried with their eyes and Dorsal Fin exposed, on gravel, mud, and sandy bottoms, of coastal shores.
They feed nocturnally on small fish and crustaceans.
Length - 45cm
Depth - 1-100m
Widespread Eastern Atlantic, Mediterranean

Venomous spines can cause serious injury and death!

Weevers have no swim bladders so sink as soon as they stop actively swimming.
