Description

Also known as Blue-spotted Sand-diver, Filamented Sand Eel, Hairfin, Sand Lance.

Found in large colonies, resting on the sand or hovering just above clean sand bottoms, darting into their burrows when threatened, over steep slopes, of coral and rocky reefs.
They feed on zooplankton.
Length - 22cm
Depth - 1-80m
Widespread Western Pacific

Sand Divers get their name because when alarmed or predators are near, they dive into the sand and swim through the sand to safety.
