Found singly or in pairs, sharing their burrow with an alpheid shrimp, on patches of coarse sand over outer lagoons and seaward reefs.
They feed on benthic invertebrates and zooplankton.

Shrimp Gobies live a symbiotic relationship with snapping shrimps.
