Also known as Armed Crab, Box Crab, Moon Crab, Speckled Moon Crab, Yellow Moon Crab.

Found usually buried in the sand during the day, out foraging for food at night over mud, sand and broken shell bottoms of intertidal zones and much deeper.
They feed on benthic crustaceans, invertebrates and worms.

Depth - 0-50m
Widespread Indo-Pacific, Mediterranean

Brachyura crabs are considered true crabs, they have a short abdomen, 4 walking legs and a pair of clawed arms at the front.
