Description

Also known as Alligator Gar, Billfish, Garfish, Garpike, Spotted Garfish.

Found in brackish waters as well as clear pools, of lowland creeks, oxbow lakes, small to large rivers and swamps.
They feed on crustaceans and fish.

Widespread North America

Gars have heavily armoured scales and are usually found in freshwater but occasionally can be found in marine waters.
