Description

Also known as Brown-barred Goby, Dusky-barred Goby, Gudgeon, Sleeper Banded Goby.

Found singly or in pairs, close to their burrows, over sandy areas with sparse seagrass, on protected reefs.
They feed on small crustaceans and gastropods, by sifting through mouthfuls of sand.
Length - 18cm
Depth - 1-20m
Widespread Indo-West Pacific

These Gobies feed by taking a mouthful of sand that is filtered through the gills for tiny creatures.
They make large homes on sandy areas below rocks, with a small entrance that is covered over at night, when predators are near these Gobies dive into the sand and swim through the sand to escape danger. Ref: https://www.fishbase.se/summary/7199
