Description

Also known as Red-mouthed Ascidian, Red-throated Ascidian, Sea Squirt, Tunicate.

Found singly, buried by its foot, in sponge gardens, seagrass meadows, drop-offs, and walls, over coral and rocky reefs.
They feed on detritus and plankton.

Depth - 6-33m
Widespread Indo-West Pacific

Ascidian, also known as tunicates because their bodies are covered by a "tunic" a tough cellulose-like covering.
The other common name is sea squirt because when threatened they sometimes eject a jet of water. Ref: x
