Description

Also known as Longneck Turtle, Long-necked Freshwater Turtle, Narrow-breasted Snake-necked Turtle, Northern Snake-necked Turtle, Oblong Turtle, Southwestern Long-necked Turtle, Southwestern Snake-necked Turtle, Western Long-necked Turtle.

Found in freshwater lakes, rivers, streams, swamps, coastal shorelines and lagoons. During the dry season the adults hibernate in mud burrows.
They feed on baby birds, fish, insects, tadpoles, hatchling turtles and worms.

Depth - Shallow
Indian Ocean - Western Australia

Threatened species.

The colour of the shell can be determined by light and conditions of the habitat, they also use algae on their shells as camouflage.
