Also known as Bear Lake Bullhead, Cockatouch, Common Slimy Muddler, Freshwater Sculpin, Miller's Thumb, Northern Sculpin, Slimy Muddler, Stargazer, Western Slimy Sculpin.

Found singly, in brackish and freshwater, rocky areas of lakes, springs, and cold streams.
They feed on crustaceans, fish, aquatic insects larvae, and plant material.

Widespread North America
