Found in small schools over mangroves, mudflats, rock and sandy bottoms of open coastal waters, often in surge zones. These fish have extended rays on their Pectoral fins which act like fingers, which they use for scouring mud and sand bottoms for food.
They feed on crustaceans.
Length - 60cm
Depth - 1-50m
Widespread Indo-Pacific

Because Threadfins stir up the sand with their extended rays they are often followed by other fish to share in their scraps, also being a schooling fish they are popular with anglers. Ref: https://www.fishbase.se/summary/6416
