Description

Also known as Auger Shell, Auger Snail, Similar Auger Shell.

Found singly, in shallow waters, during the day under dead corals, and on sand, out at night hunting for food at night over the reef.
They feed on marine worms.
Length - 5cm
Depth - 0-33m
Widespread Indo-Pacific

These shells are sand dwelling carnivores and have a venomous barb which they extend with the speed of light to immobilise their prey.
