Description

Also known as False Pipefish, Harlequin Ghostpipefish, Ornate Ghostpipefish, Roughsnout Hairy Ghostpipefish, Tubemouth Fish.

Found singly, pairs, or family groups, in shallow waters, floating with head down, amongst rubble and sandy bottoms of reefs, rich in algae growth. Colour variable, blending in with surroundings.
They feed on small crustaceans.

Widespread Indo-Pacific

Ghostpipefish swim with heads down searching near the bottom for crustaceans. They can usually be found amongst seagrass, between the arms of criniods, black corals and gorgonians, feather stars or hover between sea urchin's spines for protection and camouflage.
