Description

Also known as Butterfish, Crinkly Dick, Nine Eyes, Salt Water Snake, Tansy, Tissy.

Found over shallow waters of the seashore and in tide pools, descending to deeper depths in the winter.
They feed on crustaceans, fish eggs, molluscs and worms.

Widespread North Atlantic
