Description
Also known as Black Leaf-nosed Moray Eel, Black Ribbon Eel, Blue Eel Ribbon Moray, Blue Ribbon Eel, Ribbon Eel, Yellow Ribbon Eel.
Found singly or in pairs, hidden in rocks, rubble, and sand, waving their heads around waiting for their prey to swim past, over lagoons and seaward reefs. Females are nearly all yellow, males blue and yellow.
They feed on small fish.
Juveniles are jet black with yellow fin.

Depth - 1-65m
Widespread Indo-Pacific
Morays open and close their mouths to move water through their gills for respiration.
