Description

Also known as Grannyfish, Spotted Hawk.

Found singly, perched on rocks, close to caves, crevices, and rubble areas, over coral and rocky reefs.
They feed on copepods, crustaceans, and invertebrates.
Length - 10cm
Depth - 2-40m
Widespread Western Atlantic, Caribbean

Hawkfish can be found perched as if 'standing on their fins' in the branches or on top of corals and rocks waiting for their prey. If approached by predators they quickly dart away to hide. Ref: https://www.fishbase.se/summary/3655
