Found in schools, in fresh water lakes, rivers and their tributaries. Colours highly variable needs to mate to produce bright colouring.
They feed on algae, crustaceans, insect larvae and insects.

This rainbowfish if kept in a tank needs to be kept in a school of about 6, otherwise they lose their vibrant colour and become a muddy brown!

The Ramu Rainbowfish lives in the northern part of Papua New Guinea. It has been found in the Ramu Valley and in tributaries of the River Gogol. The typical Ramu Rainbowfish habitat is narrow creeks surrounded by densely grown rainforest. The water is normally clear and aquatic plants are scarce. The bottoms will normally consist of gravel.
