Found singly or in small schools (adults rarely seen by divers as they are usually found in deep water) over gravel patches and sand flats of coral and rocky reefs.
They feed on cephalopods, benthic crustaceans, fish and invertebrates.
Juveniles found in the arms of long-spined sea urchins over shallow coastal bays, moving to deeper waters as they grow.
They feed on benthic crustaceans, fish, invertebrates and cephalopods.
Length - 60cm
Depth - 5-180m
Widespread Indo-West Pacific

Most Snappers live in moderate depths, however there are a few that live much deeper. Juveniles found on inshore reefs.
They are nocturnal predators that mainly feed on fish, but will eat crustaceans, gastropods and cephalopods.
