Description

Also known as Balloon Lumpfish, Lumpsucker, Spiny Lumpsucker, Spiny Pimpled Lumpsucker.

Found singly, attached to rocks or solid objects at low tide, but can be found at great depths. They are considered poor swimmers and can be found in eelgrass beds, kelp patches and rocky reefs, over shallow bays and docks. Colour varies.
They feed on crustaceans, molluscs and worms.
Length - 18cm
Depth - 0-500m
Widespread North Pacific

The lumpfishes pelvic fins are fused into a sucker.
