Also known as Blotchy Sillago, Indo-Pacific Whiting, Oriental Trumpeter Whiting, Sand Smelt, Sillago's, Silver Sillago.

Found in schools, over mud or sandy depressions, of bays and inshore coastal waters.
They feed on invertebrates.
Juveniles bury in the sand.
