Description

Also known as Blowfish, Cheek-barred Toadfish, Dwarf Blowfish, Northern Toadfish, Orange-banded Blowfish, Pufferfish, Swelltoad, Toadfish.

Found in small loose schools, over shallow sand flats, of estuaries and coastal shorelines. Hiding, by burying in the sand, with just their eyes showing during the day or when alarmed.
They feed on crustaceans, fish, and molluscs.
Length - 10cm
Depth - 18-22m
Widespread Indo-Pacific

The bodies of Pufferfish are covered in a toxic mucus, if the skin or flesh is consumed it can be fatal to humans.
