Found singly, close to shelter, over off-shore, coral and rocky reefs.
They feed on crustaceans, worms, and zooplankton.

Dottybacks are usually small and often brightly coloured.
They live inside the reefs structure, often at the back of caves and are very territorial and aggressive.
