Also known as Flathead Sleeper, Gudgeon, Mud Cod, Sleeper Goby, Spangled Gudgeon, Spangled Sleeper.

Found over mud bottoms, of freshwater creeks, as well as brackish estuaries, mangroves, river mouths, and lower courses of rivers, away from tidal zones.
They feed on large benthic crustaceans and fish.

Widespread Indo-West Pacific
