Found singly, pairs, or in small schools, amongst corals and rocks of seaward reefs rich in algae growth.
They feed on benthic invertebrates and zooplankton.
Length - 8cm
Depth - 10-40m
Widespread Western Pacific

Males have a taller more elaborate first Dorsal Fin which erects intermittently when moving around and for mating.
