Also known as Clobberhead, Fatherlasher, Granny Fish, Long-spined Bullhead Sea Scorpion, Long-spined Sea Scorpion, Lucky Proach, Rock Sculpin, Rockfish, Sea Scorpion, Spikey.

Found singly, on rocky bottoms, in tide-pools and over shallow sandy inshore waters rich in algae growth. They can breath air when out of water.
They feed on fish, invertebrates, molluscs and worms.
Length - 25cm
Depth - 0-200m
Widespread Eastern Atlantic, Mediterranean

Sculpins are small bottom dwelling fish, usually found in both shallow intertidal zones, of coasts and estuaries, and much deeper waters of the oceans, where they are often caught in trawl nets.

    Taurulus bubalis is harmless.I think you're messing up species. (Source: Biology student, handled about 20 of them for a study.) The one you might be referring to is Scorpaena scrofa (red scorpionfish), which is poisonous but even that one causes nothing but pain for a few hours.
