Found in small schools, close to the bottom, over the lower continental shelf.
They feed on benthic invertebrates.
Juveniles found over oceanic surface waters.
Length - 20cm
Depth - 25-600m
Widespread Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean, Indo-West Pacific
