Found singly when inshore, or in schools, patrolling reef slopes, close to corals and rocks, in shallow lagoons and coastal waters.
They feed on cephalopods, crustaceans, and fish.
Juveniles found in estuaries.

Depth - 1-59m
Widespread Indo-West Pacific
