Description

Also known as Brachyura Crab, Mottled Crab, Mottled Lightfoot Crab, Red Rock Crab, Rock Crab, Rocky Shore Crab, Sally Lightfoot Crab, Sally Longlegs, Shore Crab, Swift-footed Crab, Swift-footed Rock Crab, True Crab.

Found singly or in a consortium, on intertidal coral and rocky reefs, and rocky shores, clinging to jetties, beach rocks, and walls, or resting on rocks ,outside the water. Very shy, will disappear into cracks in the rocks when approached.
They feed on crustaceans, detritus, fish, and seaweeds.

Widespread Atlantic, Caribbean, Indo-Pacific

Brachyura crabs are considered true crabs, they have a short abdomen, 4 walking legs and a pair of clawed arms at the front.
