Found singly, often camouflaged, in weedy areas of coastal reefs and trawling grounds.
They feed on algae and invertebrates.

Depth - 2-25m
Widespread Indo-West Pacific

Filefish can alter their colour and pattern to match their surrounds and so deter predators.
