Description

Also known as Colour Rock Anemone, Corallimorph Anemone, False Anemone, Hexacoral, Hoplites Corallimoph, Zoantharia.

Found in dense colonies, attached in reef crevices and under ledges, over rubble areas of coral and rocky reefs. These are not true sea anemones.
They feed on echinoderms including the crown-of-thorns sea star, nudibranchs and plankton.
Length - 21cm
Depth - 0-30m
Widespread Indo-Pacific

Similar to sea anemones, but are flat, have short club-tipped tentacles or multiple branched fringing tentacles.
They are adept at taking over large areas of reef.
