Also known as Grubfish, Peppered Grubfish, Sandsmelt, Weever, Weeverfish, Whitestripe Sandperch, Yellowbar Sandperch, Yellow-barred Sandperch, Yellowspot Grubfish.

Found singly, amongst boulders and rubble, over protected sandy areas of coastal bays and lagoons.
They feed on fish and small invertebrates.
Length - 23cm
Depth - 2-28m
Widespread Indo-West Pacific
