Also known as Grubfish, Harlequin Sandsmelt, Pink-blotched Grubfish, Sandsmelt, Weever, Weeverfish.

Found singly, resting on their fins, over rubble and sandy bottoms, of shallow protected coastal bays and estuaries.
They feed on fish and benthic invertebrates.
Length - 20cm
Depth - 8-25m
Widespread Western Indian Ocean
