Description

Also known as Coral Shrimpfish, Grooved Shrimpfish, Guttersnipe Fish, Razorfish, Rigid Shrimpfish, Serrated Razorfish.

Found head down in large schools, in the spines of sea urchins or in the arms of black corals, branching corals, and sea whips, over mud and sand bottoms, along beach edges of quiet bays and shallow water inlets, blending in with their surroundings.
They feed on benthic invertebrates and zooplankton.

Widespread Indo-Pacific

Shrimpfishes swim in groups with head down swimming in a synchronised fashion (when one turns they all turn) often sheltering in rich coral patches, in fan and whip coral and sea grass beds. Ref: http://www.fishbase.org/summary/6510
