Description

Also known as Blue Bridle Cardinalfish, Diamond Cardinal, Golden Cardinalfish, Plain Cardinal, Plain Cardinalfish, Short-tooth Cardinal, Short-tooth Cardinalfish, Short-toothed Cardinalfish.

Found in pairs or small schools away from the reef on deep coral outcrops on sand flats, sheltering during the day coming out at night to feed on zooplankton and invertebrates.

Males incubate their eggs inside their mouths, as the egg masses increase in size they can be found with wide open mouths where they shift the eggs around to aerate the egg masses.
