Found singly, pairs, or in large schools, sheltering in staghorn corals, over lagoons and seaward reefs, rich in coral growth.
They feed on algae from bases of dead corals.

Depth - 1-30m
Widespread Western Pacific

Rabbitfish are usually found in algae rich reefs.
