Description

Also known as Longneck Turtle, Long-necked Freshwater Turtle, Pancake Turtle, Soft-shell Turtle.

Found buried in mud and sandy substrates, over brackish, slow moving waters, in almost every freshwater habitat of Florida and other states.
They feed on crustaceans, fish, frogs, insects and molluscs.

Widespread North America

This turtle is entirely aquatic, only emerging from the water to bask or lay eggs. They are very fast moving on land as well as in water.
