Found in slow moving, very murky waters of creeks, ditches, lakes, ponds and streams.
They feed on crustaceans, insects, plants and worms.

North America - Florida

This fish derives its name because the male fish resembles the American Flag!

A freshwater fish often seen in the aquarium trade.
