Description

Also known as Mado, New Zealand Mado, Stripey, White Bellied Stripey.

Found singly, or in small to large schools, sheltering during the day, over shallow, rocky areas of lagoons, and coral reefs, dispersing at night, foraging for food, over headlands, and off-shore islands.
They feed on algae and small crustaceans.
Juveniles act as cleaners, by picking parasites from larger fish.
Length - 30cm
Depth - 1-60m
Widespread Southwest Pacific
