Description

Also known as Brachyura Crab, Eyes-wide-Apart Swimming Crab, Portunid Crab, Swimmer Crab, Swimming Crab, True Crab.

Found on mud and sand substrates, over inter-tidal areas of estuaries, coral and rocky reefs.
They feed on the small invertebrates, and ravenously on the mussel Perna viridi and seaweeds.

Depth - 1-114m
Widespread - Indo-Pacific


Brachyura crabs are considered true crabs, they have a short abdomen, 4 walking legs and a pair of clawed arms at the front.
