Description

Also know as Southern Orange-lined Cardinal, Southern Orange-lined Cardinalfish.

Found in pairs or small schools sheltering during the day over clearwater coral and rocky bottoms of sheltered harbours, coastal and outer reefs, dispersing at night to feed.
They feed nocturnally on crustaceans, small fish and zooplankton.
Length - 6cm
Depth - 1-30m
Widespread Indo-Pacific

Males incubate their eggs inside their mouths, as the egg masses increase in size they can be found with wide open mouths where they shift the eggs around to aerate the egg masses. (edit) Ref: https://www.fishbase.de/summary/56921
