Description

Also known as Blue-and-Yellow Snapper, Blue-banded Hussar, Blue-banded Seaperch, Blue-banded Snapper, Blue-lined Seaperch, Blue-lined Snapper, Blue-lined Snapper Fish, Blue-stripe Seaperch, Bluestripe Snapper, Blue-striped Snapper, Blue-striped Snapper Fish, Common Bluestripe Seaperch, Four-lined Snapper, Kasmira Snapper, Moonlighter, Yellow-and-blue Seaperch, Yellow-and-blue Snapper.

Found in large schools during the day, close to caves, coral formations, and wrecks, over shallow lagoons and outer reef slopes, dispersing at night hunting for food.
They feed on cephalopods, crustaceans, and fish.
Juveniles found over patch reefs and seagrass beds.
Length - 25cm
Depth - 3-260m
Widespread South East Atlantic, Indo-Pacific

Most Snappers live in moderate depths, however there are a few that live much deeper. Juveniles found on inshore reefs.
They are nocturnal predators that mainly feed on fish, but will eat crustaceans, gastropods and cephalopods.
