Also known as Blotchy Shrimpgoby, Gudgeon, Periophthalma Prawngoby, Prawn Goby, Shrimp Goby, Slender Shrimpgoby.

Found singly or in pairs, sharing their burrow with alpheid shrimps, over sandy bottoms of lagoons and reef slopes, of outer and seaward reefs.
They feed on small crustaceans and fish passing by their burrows.

Shrimp Gobies live a symbiotic relationship with snapping shrimps.
