Found singly, or in large schools, over rock, sand, and seagrass beds, in shallow to deep waters.
They feed on crustaceans, invertebrates and seaweed.
Length - 60cm
Depth - 5-300m
Widespread Eastern Atlantic, Black Sea, Mediterranean
