Description

Also known as Banded Sandfish, Dwarf Sea Bass, Stubby Sea Bass.

Found in warm, silty waters, over mixed rubble, and sandy areas, close to jetties, rocky outcrops, and artificial reefs. One of the smallest Sea Bass.
They feed on small fish and invertebrates.
Length - 10cm
Depth - 1-20m
Widespread Western Atlantic

Sea Bass are solitary carnivores that hunt near the bottom usually at dusk. Food is drawn into their mouths by a powerful suction when they open their overly large mouths and then swallowed whole.
