Found in small schools, over rocky areas, in shallow surge zones, of lagoons and outer reefs.
They feed on benthic algae and small invertebrates. Upper parts of bands often very dark.
Juveniles found in rock pools and shallow waters.

Widespread Indo-Pacific

Damselfish are egg layers.
