Also known as American Flag Shrimp, Banded Boxing Shrimp, Banded Cleaner Shrimp, Banded Coral Cleaner Shrimp, Banded Coral Shrimp, Barber-pole Shrimp, Boxer Shrimp, Boxing Shrimp, Carid Shrimp, Cleaner Coral Shrimp, Cleaner Shrimp, Coral Banded Boxing Shrimp, Coral Banded Shrimp, Coral Shrimp, Red-banded Coral Shrimp.

Found singly, or in colonies at cleaning stations, over rocky bottoms, and on sponges of coral reefs, waiting for customers to clean, by waving their antennae to attract eels and fish, before crawling over there customers giving them a good clean!
They feed on algae, parasites, from their customers and plankton.

Widespread Western Atlantic, Indo-Pacific

Often if a divers hand is near to cleaner shrimps, they will hop on board and perform a manicure!

Carid shrimps occur worldwide in almost every habitat, from sea water to fresh water and can be found all over the reef.
They are generally respected by other creatures, often sharing burrows and holes and working as housekeepers.
