Description

Also known as Dwarf Cichlid, Dwarf Jewelfish, Riverine Cichlid, Thomas's Cichlid, Thomas's Dwarf Cichlid.

Found in pairs, over shallow, muddy waters, in areas bordering open grass plains and forested areas with overhanging vegetation. When alarmed they bury themselves in the substrate sometimes 30cm deep. Varies in colour and pattern.
They feed on small crustaceans, terrestrial insects and insect larvae.
