Description

Also know as Kupang Cardinalfish.

Found singly, pairs or small groups on sheltered coastal reefs in silty conditions, sheltering during the day coming out at night to feed on zooplankton and bottom dwelling crustaceans.
Length - 7cm
Depth - 2-15m
Widespread Asian Pacific

Males incubate their eggs inside their mouths, as the egg masses increase in size they can be found with wide open mouths where they shift the eggs around to aerate the egg masses. (edit)
